Scotland 's Tomintoul, set amidst the beautiful Cairngorm mountains and the Cromdale Hills, Tomintoul is the highest village in the Scottish Highlands. Established by Alexander, the 4th Duke of Gordon in 1776, this planned village is attractively laid out with a long main street and central square.

The Gordon Hotel and Cromdales Restaurant sits in the square and is renowned for its comfort and hospitality.

Recently refurbished, the Gordon Hotel and Cromdales Restaurant offers our guests even more luxury, more comfort and the warmest welcome. Each of the 29 en-suite bedrooms combines traditionally elegant style
with modern facilities.

Tomintoul is a fine location for visiting the area's many castles and stately homes, or for following the famous Whisky Trail, with easy access to main airports makes it a superb base for any touring holiday.

This is an area steeped in tradition and history, with plenty to see and do. However you choose to spend you time in the area, The Gordon Hotel will make your stay a comfortable and memorable one.

Tomintoul welcomes you in all seasons! In winter, the Lecht Ski Center is a short distance away, with Tomintoul providing the nearest acommodation base. Spring offers peace and tranquillity, summer the ideal touring season; and the autumn, the majestic color changes.

Tomintoul's dramatic surroundings offer a wealth of  outdoor pursuits from challenging climbing, skiing and shooting to horse riding and fishing. Or if you prefer, walking and sight-seeing tours of the surrounding area
are available.

There are superb opportunities for a host of special interest visits within easy reach of The Gordon Hotel.

Whiskey Trail!

Whisky Trail, follow it, and sample some of  Scotland's best known malts including Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Glenfarclas, Cardhu, Dallas Dhu, and
Strathisla. Then, back at the hotel, try malts from the Islands and Scottish Lowlands at our specialist malt whiskey bar.

Schedule your visit for one of the celebrated Highland Games - which generally take place between May and September. Tomintoul's own highland games–among the oldest–generally take place the 3rd Saturday of July, where you can watch Highland dancing, piping, putting the stone, throwing the hammer and tossing the caber.

Visit the Highlands Wildlife Park, the Landmark Forest Heritage Park and the Cairngorm Reindeer Center.

View the castles and historic houses of the area.

The elegant Cromdales Restaurant provides the perfect setting for a truly memorable culinary experience.

Relax and enjoy the ambiance and superb service which have helped earn the fine reputation of our Cromdales Restaurant.

The Alexander Room

Scottish hospitality at its best. The Alexander Room's welcome is as warm as the roaring log fire that will greet you. Just as traditionally Scottish, is the range of fine malt whiskeys waiting to be enjoyed here–a specialty of the Alexander Room. The friendly atmosphere and attentive
staff make this a perfect place to enjoy an aperitif or to relax over liqueur after an excellent meal in our Restaurant.

The Dukes Suite

Our Regular Cuisine

Where possible, local produce is used in a creative manner to provide a range of traditional Scottish favourites, complimented with appropriate  wines and spirits. The finest Aberdeen Angus beef, Scotch lamb, game from the surrounding estates and fresh seafood from the region's fishing ports are used to create the exquisite dishes inspired by our young and enthusiastic brigade of chefs. A separate bar menu is available within our
Grouses Nest Bar which concentrates on home made dishes like grandmother used to make.

Our Vegetarian Cuisine

The Gordon is pleased to offer a totally separate vegetarian menu. The menu is offered for hotel guests on a Modified American Plan (MAP) otherwise known as half board (breakfast and dinner) basis and must be
pre-booked at the time your accommodation reservation is made. A limited Vegetarian bar snack menu covering lunch will also be available. A different tariff applies, so please advise this menu is required when reserving your stay with us.
